This week's messaeg asked us why some people are inclined to run from the church and from Christ as opposed to seeking Him out. Consider these questions.
- The centurion understood Jesus's authority through his own experience of being "under authority." What has shaped how you understand who Jesus is — and where might that shape what you're able to recognize about him, or miss?
- Jesus was amazed by faith in an outsider and grieved by unbelief among people who knew him best. Where in your own life might familiarity with church or faith language be substituting for actual trust in Jesus?
- The centurion and the Canaanite woman ran to Jesus in their moment of greatest need, expecting rejection but finding welcome. Who in your life might be quietly deciding whether people like us are safe to bring their need to — and what would it look like to be that kind of "table" for them this week?
