Discussing Divorce

22Apr

This week's message took us through the incredibly sensitive topic of divorce. Discuss how Pastor Elisha and Steve's message helped you consider divorce in a new light or even consider things that you never had before.

1. Divorce is a death of a marriage. For a widow, we run to make meals, watch the kids and listen. Can we turn these same desires to help a widow also be what we do when a family is faced with divorce?

2. Share two or three of your favorite worship songs that have helped you through suffering.

3. Lamentations 3:57-58: You came near on a day when I called you, you said “Do not fear!” O Lord, you have pleaded for my cause, you have redeemed my life.

What does this Scripture say to you in light of divorce and suffering?

4. Discuss a situation when you could have done things different to support a community member or family member going through a divorce. If you have been divorced, discuss a time when you felt that hug Elisha describes in the sermon.

5. Prayer and community changes things. Please pray for the families you know are affected by divorce.
