CONVERSATION
- Romans 8:1-8 explains the relationship of the Old Covenant to the New Covenant. Read this passage. How is living by the Spirit different from living by the Law?
Now read Matthew 5:21-22. How does Jesus' definition of murder differ from the Old Testament commandment (Exodus 20:13)? - Do you catch yourself in Old Covenant thinking and entertaining thoughts like, “If I do something for God, He will do something for me.”?
What is a New Covenant statement or thought that you can use to replace Old Covenant habits of thinking?
Examples:
Compare Deuteronomy 21:18-21 to Luke 11:11-13.
Compare Exodus 20:1-17 and Matthew 5:1-12.
