mobilizing against idolizing
This week's message lead us through how we can recognize what we may be idolizing in our lives and the steps we can take to realize that God's love is far more than any worldly thing we can get caught up on. Join us in this week's conversation between Pastors Christiaan and Diane as they discuss what some of the more difficult parts of identifying idols and how we can work on worrying less about the worldly aspects of our lives.
1. If you KNOW God is love, explain what that means to you.
2. Who or what do we turn to for comfort and security? When can that something or someone turn into an idol? How do you determine what is an idol for you?
3. Past traumas may bring up triggers like Pastor Diane spoke about when she told us about her car. Can you name some of your triggers that might also take you down a dark road instead of seeing the light and goodness of Jesus?
4. A camera crew comes to record a day in the life of your life right now. The crew documents what you do with your time and money. What would be revealed?
5. How do you see God? Do you only see a judgmental Old Testament God? Explain.
6. In what ways are you called to discover who God is each week? Share with your group.
