What Do You Do When You Lose Trust in Yourself?

Encountering Jesus

Previous Page

Peter told Jesus he would never walk away. A day later he denied even knowing him, three times. Then, days after the resurrection, instead of running toward the risen Christ, Peter went back to his old fishing boat.

Why do we retreat after we fail? Why is it so hard to trust ourselves again once we've done the very thing we swore we never would?

In week 6 of our Encounters with Jesus series, pastor Chris Stockhaus walks through John 21 and the difference between defending ourselves, destroying ourselves, and a third way that actually heals.

Along the way: cheap grace versus costly grace, why Jesus took Peter back to a charcoal fire on purpose, and an idea called humble strength that reframes what it means to fail and keep going.

If there's a failure you've let define you, watch this one!
