The Heart of God’s Commandments: Understanding Exodus 20-24

Exodus

Steve IngoldJune 2, 2024Cornerstone Fellowship Sermons

Previous Page

In his helpful and hopeful message, Pastor Steve opens Exodus 20-24, exploring the deeper purposes behind God’s commandments. Consider these Questions as they apply to your life.

1. Take a few of the 10 Commandments using modern language and through the lens of Jesus, to put a more positive spin on them. (Maybe this could be your group’s take on the Ingold Family Constitution)
Example:
1. You shall have not other gods before me.
Modern:
Love the LORD God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Identify and remove (or reprioritize) anyTHING I treat as more important than God. Or hiders a deep personal relationship with God.
2. Pastor Steve says, “ We are saved and have the opportunity to be saved from our old selves because of Jesus.” What do you need Jesus to save you from today?
3. The message points out God’s desire to have a one on one relationship with Him. Name one thing you will do this week to nurture a closeness with God.
4. Pastor Steve mentions “What would Jesus do?” and “What does love require?” as helpful to him to navigate the world and relationships. Share a quote that is just as helpful to you.
