Benevolence Ministry

Request Assistance

The purpose of our Benevolence Ministry is to draw people closer to Christ and to help them take their next step with Jesus by helping to meet their basic needs in times of financial crisis or transition according to biblical directives and fiscal constraints. The Benevolence Ministry achieves this purpose primarily through specific check disbursements at the recommendation of the Benevolence Team/Staff Coordinator and approval by the Director of Care/Campus Pastor.   Disbursements are made by check and are payable to a specific vendor. These disbursements are to be accompanied by, and made in tandem with: evangelism (when applicable), discipleship and counsel on biblical financial stewardship. Besides financial aid, Cornerstone Fellowship seeks to make available other resources such as Advocate ministry, assistance with resume writing/job searching, Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University, lay counseling via Care ministries or Christian counseling referrals, and resource list to find lower cost housing opportunities and community resources.

The Benevolence Ministry is intended as a source of last resort, to be used when the family or individual requesting assistance has explored all other possibilities of help from family, friends, savings, or investments.  The Benevolence Ministry is not designed to respond to emergencies, financial or otherwise, as the process can take several weeks to complete.

A request for assistance begins with a Benevolence Request Form being filled out by the individual requesting help or by a Cornerstone attendee on behalf of the person in need. Request forms are located in the church office and may be obtained during normal business hours or during weekend services.  A written recommendation from your community group leader would be helpful. Those requesting assistance must also be willing to receive biblical, financial, family, or emotional counseling.  Assistance for those who do not attend Cornerstone begins with a one-on-one appointment with a Benevolence Team member. Call 925-447-3465 to schedule a “walk-in” appointment. The Benevolence Team will not provide help to anyone who, in its estimation, will have negative or irresponsible behavior reinforced by financial help. Questions: .

As stated earlier, the purpose of this ministry is primarily to draw individuals closer to Christ.  Every person’s first and greatest need is always to experience God’s love and mercy through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
